Operation: Wreath Laying Ceremony

Finally! Last night we made it the flag lowering!

After the flag lowering, a few of the vehicles were moved out to go practice for the air show on Saturday.

We wandered around for a bit after that waiting for the handing over of the guard from the Marines to the Cleveland P.D, with the playing of taps at 10:00. It is impossible to listen to taps without tears. Absolutely impossible!

While waiting for the ceremony at 10, we walked around Voinovich Park, then got to take a short ride in a fully restored Vietnam era jeep. That was awesome, let me tell you! Another advantage of being married to the lead planner *grin*.

Because we were up and out so late last night, I made sure the curtains were overlapping in hopes of having Leilani sleep later. We made it to 8:30! I was so glad. She's been so tired. Both girlies woke up mostly happy (Leilani wasn't too thrilled that daddy was gone, but once we got past that, we were good). Natalia woke up all chatty, cooing, smiling, and squeaking. I just love baby noises. Cutest thing ever!

Today, our big goal was to make it to the wreath laying ceremony by the Vietnam Wall replica. Everyday, a Gold Star mom and a high-ranking Marine (today it was a General) lay a wreath by the wall. A Gold Star mom is a mom who has a child who died in OEF or OIF. The Mayor of Cleveland was there today, too. Once again, taps was played, and, of course, I cried.

After that, we got back in the vehicle because my hubby needed to pick up some tickets for the game tonight to give to the people they belong to. We got a bit waylaid on our way to the ballpark and had to take another Captain over to the airport for the MAGTF demo practice. We drove all over the field, which was pretty cool :). When we got to the ballpark, we went out on the field. Leilani had a blast throwing and chasing a baseball.

After that, we went back to the hotel room, once we got there, we realized we had no key to get in. So the girls and I waited in the little "foyer" by our room while my hubby went down to get a key.

The girls and I are going to stay in the hotel the rest of the day and do the "three R's"- Rest, Relax, and Read *grin*.
